DePaul Women’s Soccer Shines with Five CSC Academic All-District Honors
DePaul University’s women’s soccer team keeps racking up achievements, both on the pitch and in the classroom. Five players just landed spots on the College Sports Communicators’ (CSC) Academic All-District Team—an honor that’s honestly no small feat.
This recognition highlights the athletes’ dedication to academics and their real impact in soccer. Graduate students Jen Devona and Grace Menser, juniors Danielle Fjeldsted and Mia Veldman, and sophomore Katelyn Jamie all made the cut, showing what it means to be a true student-athlete.
Academic Excellence and Athletic Prowess
The CSC Academic All-District Team isn’t for just anyone. Players need a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and must start or play a big role as a reserve.
It’s a tough standard, and DePaul’s women’s soccer team managed to get five players recognized. That says a lot about their effort and drive.
Jen Devona: The Veteran Midfielder
Graduate student Jen Devona anchors the Blue Demons’ midfield. She started all 18 matches this fall and played 1,592 minutes, more than any other DePaul field player.
Her steady presence and leadership have shaped the team. Devona’s a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team pick, finished her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, and now she’s tackling grad school at DePaul.
Danielle Fjeldsted: Creative Midfield Dynamo
Junior Danielle Fjeldsted brings creativity to the midfield. She started every match, tied for the team lead with three goals, and logged 1,299 minutes.
Her calm under pressure helps DePaul keep possession. Fjeldsted’s majoring in Finance, minoring in Accounting, and somehow juggles it all without missing a beat.
Grace Menser: Defensive Stalwart
Graduate student Grace Menser stands out as one of DePaul’s most seasoned defenders. She started every match this season, notched two assists, and helped the team secure five shutouts.
Menser’s leadership and sense of positioning kept the back line solid for over 1,100 minutes. She graduated in Marketing and is now studying at DePaul’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
Mia Veldman: Versatile Midfielder
Junior Mia Veldman made big strides in her second season with the Blue Demons. She started 15 games, played more than 1,100 minutes, and brought real versatility to the midfield.
Veldman balances defense and attack, helping DePaul control the game. She’s working toward a Psychology degree and just picked up her first CSC Academic All-District honor.
Katelyn Jamie: Impactful Sophomore
Sophomore Katelyn Jamie wasted no time making her mark. She scored three goals in 16 appearances and started 15 times.
Her .400 shots-on-goal percentage stands out among the team. Jamie’s majoring in Psychology and already has a BIG EAST All-Academic Team nod on her resume.
Recognition and Future Prospects
Devona and Menser each earned their third CSC Academic All-District selection. Fjeldsted received her second, while Veldman and Jamie are first-timers.
These honors shine a light on the players’ individual efforts and DePaul’s supportive, high-achieving environment.
Commitment to Excellence
DePaul’s recognition of these five athletes shows a real commitment to supporting both academics and athletics. Dedicated advisors and flexible scheduling help student-athletes balance everything on their plates.
Looking Ahead
These athletes keep raising the bar for future Blue Demons. Their achievements genuinely inspire their teammates and even students who might be thinking about joining the program.
DePaul University really emphasizes both academics and athletics. Student-athletes here walk away ready for whatever comes next—whether that’s pro sports or a totally different career.
