Historic Rivalry Renewed

UConn and Boston College go way back on the basketball court. UConn leads the all-time series 37-14.

Their last matchup was November 17, 2005. This exhibition should stoke the rivalry and let both teams show off their skills.

UConn’s Stellar Lineup

The Huskies are fresh off their 12th national championship in the 2024-25 season. Final Four Most Outstanding Player Azzi Fudd returns, along with National Freshman of the Year Sarah Strong.

Juniors KK Arnold and Ashlynn Shade also bring experience and depth to the roster. They’re back and ready to make an impact.

Veteran Leadership

Redshirt senior Caroline Ducharme has stepped up as a leader for UConn. Redshirt junior Ice Brady and Jana El Alfy give the team strong post options.

Redshirt sophomore Ayanna Patterson will finally see the court after two seasons out with injury. Sophomores Allie Ziebell and Morgan Cheli could play bigger roles this year.

New Faces on the Court

Monday’s exhibition marks the debut of five newcomers for UConn. Senior Serah Williams, who was the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, joins from Wisconsin.

Sophomore Kayleigh Heckel arrives from USC, where she helped the Trojans win a Big Ten title. Both should bring a new spark.

Freshman Talent

UConn’s freshman class includes Kelis Fisher, Gandy Malou-Mamel, and Blanca Quiñonez. These three bring fresh energy and, honestly, a lot of unknowns.

It’ll be interesting to see how they fit in and what they can add to the mix.

Hall of Fame Coaching

The 2025-26 season is Geno Auriemma’s 41st at the helm. Under his leadership, the Huskies have racked up 12 NCAA Championships, 24 Final Fours, and 61 conference titles.

Auriemma’s experience and strategy keep UConn at the top. It’s hard to imagine the program without him guiding things.

Upcoming Exhibitions

After the Hall of Fame Exhibition Game, UConn faces Southern Connecticut on October 26 at PeoplesBank Arena. These exhibitions help the team gear up for the season opener against Louisville.

The opener’s set for November 4 in the Armed Forces Classic at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Not your average start to the season, right?
