Temple Basketball Conference Schedules Released for Men and Women
The American Conference just dropped the schedules for the Temple Owls’ men’s and women’s basketball teams. Temple’s heading into its 13th season in the conference, and honestly, there’s a lot to get excited about.
Fans can look forward to a fresh lineup of games, with both teams set to take on some serious competition. The men’s team opens their regular season on December 31, while the women get started on January 3.
Both teams will wrap up conference play in early March, right before the American Conference tournaments. There’s no shortage of big matchups or chances for the Owls to bounce back from last year.
Temple Men’s Basketball Schedule Overview
Table of Contents
The men’s team kicks things off on the road against Charlotte on New Year’s Eve. That’s a tough opener, but it’s a good test for the Owls as they try to make some noise in the conference.
Key Matchups and Home Games
After that first game, the Owls come home for a two-game stretch at the Liacouras Center. They’ll play Texas-San Antonio on January 3, then East Carolina on January 7.
Getting off to a strong start at home could set the tone for the rest of the season. One game that’s definitely circled on the calendar is Memphis on January 14—former Temple guard Quante Berry returns, which should add some extra drama.
- On the road against Tulane on February 11
- At home against North Texas on February 15
- Hosting Charlotte on January 28
- Facing Rice on the road on January 21 and UTSA on January 24
They’ll host South Florida on January 31, then head out to play East Carolina again on February 7. Down the stretch, the Owls face Alabama-Birmingham at home on February 18 and Wichita State on February 21.
The regular season wraps up with a big one—Tulsa on March 8. Tulsa knocked Temple out of last season’s conference tournament, so there’s definitely a little extra motivation there.
Conference Tournament
The American Conference tournament starts March 11 in Birmingham. Only the top 10 teams out of the 13 make it, so every game leading up to that matters.
Temple Women’s Basketball Schedule Overview
The women’s team opens their conference schedule at home, taking on UTSA—the reigning regular-season champs—on January 3. Not a bad way to start if you ask me.
Key Matchups and Home Games
After the opener, the Owls hit the road for Wichita State on January 6 and Tulsa on January 9. They’ll see a lot of the conference’s best teams more than once, which means plenty of high-stakes games.
- Home-and-home against South Florida on January 20 and March 3
- Hosting North Texas on February 7
- Another matchup with UTSA on February 10 on the road
They’ve got a two-game series against Tulane—first at the Liacouras Center on January 13, then in New Orleans on January 31. Charlotte comes to North Philly looking for payback after Temple ended their season in last year’s tournament.
Rice will play Temple twice: January 28 and February 25. The Owls are probably itching for a little revenge after Rice knocked them out the past two tournaments.
Other games to watch? Hosting Memphis on February 22 and wrapping up the conference slate against Florida Atlantic on March 7. These matchups could make or break their spot in the standings.
Conference Tournament
The women’s American Conference tournament kicks off on March 10. Only the top 10 teams in the conference get a shot.
This is a big moment for the Owls. They’ve got a real chance to show what they’ve been working toward and maybe even snag that championship.
