She also spent four years as a starting defender at Syracuse University, helping the Orange notch 21 shutouts. Van Fleet graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s in health and exercise science, plus a minor in coaching and physical education.

Van Fleet’s soccer story began at Dryden High School, where she stood out from the start. Over six seasons, she racked up 186 goals and 36 assists, even setting a school record with 48 goals in a single season.
She pulled in four first-team all-state selections and was named New York State Class B Player of the Year in 2015. Not bad for a high school career.
Her club days with Syracuse Development Academy were just as impressive. She helped her team win four state titles and made it to two national championships in 2013 and 2016.
