Sheridan College Rodeo Teams Excel at 2025 Chadron State Event
The Sheridan College Generals showed off their rodeo skills at the Chadron State College Rodeo in Chadron, Nebraska, from September 5-7.
Both the men’s and women’s teams made it to the short round in several events. The women’s team finished fifth, and the men’s team grabbed a strong second place.
It’s a promising start as the Generals get ready for more competitions in Riverton and Sheridan, Wyoming.
Sheridan College Women’s Rodeo Team Shines in Barrel Racing

The women’s team, especially in barrel racing, earned fifth place overall with 100 points. Faith Heim played a big part, placing sixth in the long go, fourth in the short go, and sixth in the average.
Her steady runs got a boost from Allie Huskey and Brooke Billingsly. They both advanced to the short round, which really shows the team’s depth this year.
Goat Tying Success
Josie Johnson turned in a quick 7.7-second run in the goat tying long go. That time landed her a split for ninth and tenth place and a spot in the short round.
Her effort added important points to the team’s total and highlighted the Sheridan College women’s rodeo team’s competitive edge.
Men’s Team Dominates Saddle Bronc Riding
The men’s team really took charge in saddle bronc riding, claiming the top four spots. Their performance helped secure second place overall with 545 points.
Chris Nelson led the way, winning both the long go and short go with scores of 81 and 82. He took the title with a total of 163 points.
Jake Schlattmann came in right behind him, posting scores of 78 and 80 for second place. Lonnie Dunn and Tatien Eaton rounded out the top four.
Strong Performances in Bareback Riding
In bareback riding, Reece Reder finished second in the average after splitting the second round with an 81-point ride. Lucas Yellowhawk chipped in with a seventh-place finish in the average.
Both riders helped show the men’s team’s depth in this tough event.
Team Roping Achievements
Sheridan College also made a mark in team roping. Piper Bigney and Ryen Sheppick moved up from tenth to finish second in both the short round and the average.
Tyon Arneson and Emmett Sortumn reached the short round too, qualifying in ninth place. These runs really mattered for the men’s team’s overall finish.
