Nicole Ambrose’s Journey to Springfield College

Ambrose comes to Springfield College after three seasons at Division I Northeastern University. She spent one year as Director of Operations and then two as Assistant Coach for the women’s basketball team.

Her coaching career started earlier, with important roles at other schools. She worked three seasons at the University of South Carolina Upstate and another three at Indiana University Southeast.

Building a Foundation at Northeastern University

At Northeastern, Ambrose played a hands-on role in shaping the women’s basketball program. She handled everything from operations to coaching, which gave her a real sense of what it takes to run a team.

That mix of responsibilities helped her develop a sharp understanding of team dynamics. Now, she’s bringing all of that to Springfield College.

Ambrose has an impressive academic record, too. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Louisville, finishing sport administration in 2012 and entrepreneurship in 2014.

She also picked up a master’s in teaching from the University of the Cumberlands in 2019. While at Louisville, she worked as a student-manager for the women’s basketball program, which made three NCAA Division I Championship Tournament appearances and reached the National Championship game in 2013.
