Before things get official, the Panthers head to Raleigh on October 18 for an exhibition against North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack made it to the Sweet 16 last year, so this should be a solid test.

These teams have met four times before, but not since the 2015-16 season. It’s been a while, so expect some fresh energy on both sides.

Opening Night Against Johnson C. Smith University

The season officially starts November 3 at the Nido & Mariana Qubein Arena, where High Point hosts Johnson C. Smith University. The Panthers have had the Golden Bulls’ number lately, aiming for their fourth straight win in the series since 1997-98.

Last time they played, back in 2023, High Point walked away with a 61-50 win.

Key Home Games

Several teams will roll into the Qubein Center this season. A few matchups jump out:

  • Wofford College (Nov. 8) – The Terriers beat High Point 75-61 last year, so the Panthers have a bit of payback on their minds.
  • Merrimack College (Nov. 12) – These two programs have never faced off before. Merrimack finished last season at 14-17.
  • East Carolina University (Nov. 16) – This will be the fourth meeting. ECU ended last season 17-15.
  • University of Vermont (Nov. 19) – Vermont, the America East Tournament Champs, will visit High Point for the first time ever.

Thanksgiving Break Matches

Thanksgiving break is travel time. The Panthers head to Houston, Texas, for a game against the Cougars on November 23.

After that, they’re off to New Orleans for the Big Easy New Orleans Classic. They’ll play two games at the Alario Center on November 28 and 29, but opponents haven’t been announced yet. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

December Showdowns

December brings a mix of home and road games. Here’s what’s on tap:

  • University of Virginia’s College at Wise (Dec. 1) – First-ever meeting between these two.
  • South Carolina State University (Dec. 5) – Panthers travel for their first matchup with the Bulldogs since 2000-01. That’s a pretty long gap.
  • North Carolina Central University (Dec. 14) – High Point hosts NCCU. The last game between them, in 2020, ended in an 87-65 win for the Panthers.
  • Davidson College (Dec. 17) – It’s a road game against the Wildcats. High Point squeaked out a 56-53 win last season.
  • Yale University (Dec. 20) – The non-conference slate wraps up at home against Yale. These teams have never played each other before.
