Capital Region Athletes Shine in College Sports Careers

In the wild world of college sports, it’s rare to see an athlete truly excel in more than one discipline. Brigid Duffy, who came out of Queensbury High School, is one of those rare talents.

Her path from high school to college has been impressive. She’s stacked up achievements in both soccer and lacrosse, picking up awards and breaking records as she goes.

Brigid Duffy: A Dual-Sport Phenomenon

Brigid Duffy’s athletic ability is honestly something to see. As a senior forward and midfielder for Army’s women’s soccer team, she’s already made her mark this season.

Duffy has scored three goals for the 4-2-1 Black Knights. Two of those were game-winners, which is no small thing.

She showed her knack for clutch moments by nailing the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Air Force. She also scored the final goal in a 3-2 victory at Albany.

Soccer Achievements

Throughout her time at Army, Duffy has shown off her skills and grit. In 60 career games, she’s racked up 19 goals and 17 assists, totaling 45 points—five of those goals ended up as game-winners.

She earned a spot on the Patriot League first team in 2023, and then made the second team the next season. That’s not easy to do, especially with the level of competition.

Excellence on the Lacrosse Field

Duffy has also made the All-Patriot League first team three years running. In 53 games, she’s scored 182 goals and handed out 80 assists, for a total of 262 points.

Duffy’s name is all over Army’s record books. She holds the record for career goals (182), points (222), draw controls (286), and caused turnovers (79).

Her junior season stands out. She scored a program-record 64 goals and 22 assists, helping the team finish 13-4 overall and 8-1 in the league. That’s a season to remember.
