Table of Contents
After winning the 2025 Big 12 Tournament Championship, the BYU women’s soccer team is gearing up for another run. They’ll play 19 games—eight non-conference and 11 conference matchups. The season stretches from early August to early November. The Cougars will host 10 games and hit the road for nine.
Non-Conference Matches
The non-conference schedule starts tough, with two road games against powerhouse teams. BYU heads to No. 17 UCLA on August 12, then faces No. 15 Wisconsin on August 19. Back home, the Cougars host USC on August 22 and Minnesota on August 27 at South Field in Provo. They’ll travel to Utah Valley in Orem on August 31. Then it’s back home for Colorado State on September 3 and Oklahoma on September 5. The non-conference slate wraps up with an away match at Utah State on September 10.
Big 12 Conference Play
BYU opens Big 12 play on the road against Arizona on September 18. After that, the team returns to Provo for three straight home games: UCF on September 24, TCU on September 28, and Kansas State on October 2. Road trips follow—West Virginia on October 8 and Cincinnati on October 12. Texas Tech visits Provo on October 16. The Cougars then head to Kansas on October 22 and Iowa State on October 26. The regular season ends with home games against Utah on October 30 and Arizona State on November 5.
The Big 12 Soccer Tournament runs from November 9 through November 14. The NCAA Tournament bracket will be out later in November.
BYU Baseball: A Strong Start to the Season
BYU baseball grabbed a 4-0 win over Lamar in a non-conference game at Schroeder Park in Beaumont, Texas. That’s their first shutout of the 2026 season. Austin Park, Luke Sterner, and Ethan Zufall combined for a five-hit, seven-strikeout effort on the mound.
Key Performances
Luke Anderson led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs. Easton Jones chipped in two doubles and drove in a pair. The Cougars scored four runs on nine hits, including six doubles. Lamar managed five hits and left five runners stranded.
Head coach Trent Pratt gave the team credit for attacking hitters and using extra-base hits to cash in runs. He seemed pretty happy with the approach.
Upcoming Series
After a solid 6-2 road trip, BYU gets a shot at No. 23 Arizona State in a three-game conference set from April 16-18 at Miller Park. Arizona State sits at 9-6 in Big 12 play, just ahead of the Cougars. You can catch all three games live on ESPN+ or BYU Radio, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM 143, and 107.9 FM in Utah County.
Basketball Honors: Robert Wright III
BYU’s Robert Wright III earned a spot as a 2026 College Sports Communicators Third Team Academic All-American. He’s the 12th player in program history to get this honor, and the first since TJ Haws in 2020. Wright III joins four other Big 12 players on the list: Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State), Flory Bidunga (Kansas), JT Toppin (Texas Tech), and Tobe Awaka (Arizona).
Impressive Statistics
Wright III picked up Third Team All-Big 12 honors for the 2025-26 season. He averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. His 162 assists tie for 10th-most in a single BYU season. With 632 points, he matches Danny Ainge (1977-78) for the 20th-most in a year.
Utah Valley University: Roster Updates
Utah Valley head coach Dan Nielson announced that forward Elizabeth Gentry is joining the 2026-27 roster. Gentry comes from Creighton, where she played her first two seasons. Nielson likes her ability to run the floor, score inside and out, and defend multiple spots—sounds like she could be a real asset.
Gentry’s Background
Gentry played 49 games for the Bluejays. As a freshman, she appeared in 19 games when Creighton made the NCAA Tournament after a 26-7 season. In her sophomore year, she played 30 games and started 13, averaging 4.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15 minutes per game.
Utah Valley Baseball: A Tough Loss
Utah Valley’s baseball team had a rough one against Air Force, falling 17-7 at Erdle Field. Still, a couple of guys stood out. Mason Hamlin went 3-for-3, and Kaden Carpenter went 3-for-4, even hitting his first career grand slam.
Standout Performances
Tripp Garrish absolutely stole the show for Air Force. He went 4-for-5, hammered two home runs, and racked up eight RBIs.
UVU tried to make it interesting with a late rally in the seventh inning. They scored five runs, but honestly, it just wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Kaden Carpenter crushed a 457-foot shot to dead center. That was his eighth homer of the season and now he’s tied for third in the WAC for RBIs with 42—pretty impressive, right?
