Boston College Women’s Basketball Endures 17th Straight Loss to Syracuse

It’s been a tough stretch for the Boston College women’s basketball team. Their latest matchup with Syracuse just added another loss—now up to 17 in a row.

The Eagles actually looked sharp out of the gate. They couldn’t keep that energy up, though, and dropped the game to Syracuse, 93-59.

Boston College still hasn’t grabbed a win in the ACC. Next up, they’ll try to snap the streak against Clemson.

Boston College’s Struggles Continue

The Eagles faced Syracuse on Thursday night at Edgerley Family Court. They trailed by only five after the first quarter, which felt promising.

But as the minutes ticked by, Syracuse pulled away. The gap just kept growing, and Boston College couldn’t close it.

Key Performances

Lily Carmoody led the way for BC, dropping 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. She also grabbed three rebounds.

Kaia Henderson pitched in with four assists. As a group, though, the Eagles shot only 36% and gave up 18 turnovers, which pretty much says it all.

Syracuse’s Dominance

Syracuse looked confident, hitting 36 of their 70 shots and draining 10 threes. They’ve now won three straight and improved to 19-4.

They made Boston College pay for every mistake. You could feel their control throughout the game.

First Quarter Highlights

Both teams came out cold, missing their first shots. Athena Tomlinson grabbed a big defensive board and set up Erin Houpt for a long three, putting BC ahead for a moment.

Syracuse didn’t waste any time, though. They rattled off a 6-0 run and took over.

Second Quarter Struggles

Boston College’s offense just couldn’t get going in the second quarter. They missed their first four attempts, and Syracuse stretched the lead further.

Erin Houpt hit a nice step-back three to cut it to 29-19, but that was about as close as it got. By halftime, Syracuse led 42-21.

Third Quarter Efforts

Both teams pushed the pace after halftime. Syracuse scored seven of the first nine points, but Lily Carmoody’s and-one layup gave the Eagles a little spark.

Syracuse kept control, though, and carried a 66-39 lead into the last quarter.

Final Quarter

Boston College put up 20 points in the fourth quarter. It just didn’t matter—the gap was too wide.

Syracuse walked away with a 93-59 win. For BC, that’s 17 straight losses, a 4-21 record, and still nothing in the ACC win column at 0-12.

Looking Ahead

Boston College gets another shot to snap their losing streak on Sunday against Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum. Tip-off’s set for 2 p.m.

They’ve got to figure out both offense and defense if they want that elusive win.
