2025 College Football Preseason All-America Teams Announced
College football never sits still, and the 2025 preseason All-America team is out, bringing together a mix of proven veterans and some eye-catching new faces. The Athletic put this list together, and you’ll spot names from big programs like Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State, but also a few surprises from schools that don’t always get the spotlight.
This year’s list really puts the spotlight on both individual stars and the way they shape their teams in this fiercely competitive sport.
Quarterbacks Leading the Charge
Table of Contents
The quarterback spot gets plenty of attention, and this year’s preseason All-America team doesn’t buck that trend. Cade Klubnik from Clemson earned his place after a remarkable season last year.
Klubnik, once a five-star recruit, really came into his own, throwing for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns. He also cut down on mistakes and added 463 rushing yards with seven touchdowns, showing off his dual-threat style.
Running Backs Making Waves
Running backs keep the offense moving, and two guys stand out this time. Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame tops Dane Brugler’s draft-eligible rankings.
Even with a knee injury hanging over him, Love racked up 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns. Not far behind, Nick Singleton from Penn State led the Big Ten with 1,805 all-purpose yards and worked well alongside Kaytron Allen.
Wide Receivers and Tight Ends: The Playmakers
The wideouts and tight ends this year are a thrill to watch—guys who can flip a game in a heartbeat. Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State, top of Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List, grabbed 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns as a freshman.
Over at Arizona State, Jordyn Tyson had 75 catches, 1,101 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers, who actually came in as a quarterback recruit, made waves at tight end with 49 catches, 638 yards, and five touchdowns.
Offensive Line: The Unsung Heroes
Let’s be honest, offenses don’t work without a solid line. This year, Spencer Fano from Utah and Kadyn Proctor from Alabama headline the group.
Fano, who’s already a top-10 NFL Draft prospect, started 12 games at right tackle last season. Proctor, the top-ranked draft-eligible tackle, picked up second-team All-SEC honors.
Other names worth a mention: Ar’maj Reed-Adams from Texas A&M, Vega Ioane from Penn State, and Jake Slaughter from Florida.
Defensive Dominance
Defense still matters, and this year’s All-America team has some intimidating names. Mikail Kamara from Indiana and T.J. Parker from Clemson are up front, with Parker setting a school record by forcing six fumbles last year.
On the inside, Zane Durant from Penn State and Peter Woods from Clemson hold down the defensive tackle spots.
Linebackers: The Heart of the Defense
Linebackers have to do it all—stop the run, cover passes, you name it. Anthony Hill Jr. from Texas led the Longhorns in tackles and tackles for loss, and Sonny Styles from Ohio State, who used to play safety, is also one to watch.
LSU’s Whit Weeks made the cut too, after piling up 125 tackles last season and causing all sorts of problems for opposing offenses.
Secondary: The Last Line of Defense
The secondary is stacked with guys who can flip momentum in a flash. Leonard Moore from Notre Dame and D’Angelo Ponds from Indiana lead the cornerbacks.
At safety, Caleb Downs from Ohio State and Koi Perich from Minnesota anchor the back end. Downs, a unanimous All-American last year, might just be the best defensive player in the country right now.
Special Teams: The Game Changers
Special teams can absolutely tilt the outcome in close games. This year’s preseason All-America team brings together some real standouts.
Dominic Zvada from Michigan nailed nearly every field goal last season. Palmer Williams from Baylor blasted punts for an average of 49.4 yards, which is just wild.
